We have a commercial kitchen located at 51 Colonial Circle and an urban farm on Massachusetts Avenue. Recent news . . . . . . MAP wins 21st Century Fund's Biannual $100,000 prize!
MAP was awarded $100,000 from the 21st Century Fund, a financial award that will secure the purchase of a building for a Community Food Resource Center (CFRC). The 21st Century Fund is a biannual award from the Community Foundation of Greater Buffalo and was announced Tuesday, April 29th at Buffalo Academy of Visual and Performing Arts. MAP’s CFRC will be an anchor in the redevelopment of the Grant/Ferry Business District, featuring a shared use commercial kitchen for food entrepreneurs, job and management skills for youth and adults who work in the site’s Rise Up Café, and educational opportunities for teenagers through a weekly youth dinner coop and other community events. In addition to these important functions, the CFRC will serve as a central storage facility for MAP’s Mobile Market, which will bring fresh affordable food to neighborhoods on Buffalo’s East and West Sides. Area farmers will be able to drop off CSA shares at the CFRC for delivery to local residents.
Mobile Market Project Coming Soon We are happy to announce that we have purchased our vehicle and are in the process of transforming it into a green, mean vegetable market machine. We are mapping out our routes and will be hitting the road this summer (2008). You can find more information about our mobile market project on our Growing Green page.
